You're not the only one Carrie Bradshaw

Saturday, Brit and I took the girls to the Port Clignancourt flea market - one of the biggest and best in Paris. We spent a couple hours shopping and haggling with the merchants. I resumed my personal search for the holy grail of Parisien shoes - size 35. I visited again the boys who sold me the only shoe that has fit me so far in Paris, but despite their best efforts, my search continues.

After Clignancourt, we visited the Centre Pompidou - an original cultural institution completely focused on modern and contemporary creation that houses one of the most important museums in the world (yes I copied that from the website - http://www.cnac-gp.fr/pompidou/Communication.nsf/0/88D31BDB4FE7AB60C1256D970053FA6F?OpenDocument&sessionM=9.1&L=2). I immediately fell in love. It's in a great area, city center near Hotel De Ville, and there is a huge open space next to the Centre where people sit outside, eating, talking, relaxing, watching street performers. The building is designed to be completely open and its looks exposed as if no walls were built to disguise the network of piping. The escalators are enclosed in glass and placed on the outside of the building so you can see the entire city as you ascend. And when you get the top you really can see EVERYTHING - from the Eiffel Tower to the Sacre Coeur. It's the best view I have seen since I arrived. And that's all on the outside. When you get inside, there are some of the most interesting modern works of art I've ever seen. I won't even try to describe them, but if you ever make your way to Paris, make sure the Centre Pompidou is on your To-Do list.

Unfortunately, we had limited time at the Centre because we had to make our way home and glam up for our dinner reservations at Kong. Kong is the trendy restaurant in Pont de Neuf, overlooking the city, that was featured on the last season of Sex and the City. Remember the scene where Carrie went to Paris with Alexander Petrovsky and met his ex-wife for lunch? That's Kong. And it doesn't disappoint. Full of beautiful people, low-lighting, trendy decor and fab-u-lous (expensive) cocktails, Kong is the epitome of Sex and the City - Parisien-style.

They sat us at a table for 5 (Suzanne had joined us by this time); and right next to us, they seated a table of 5 gentlemen. We all laughed as we thought maybe Kong was trying to perform a little match-making - 5 fabulous girls with 5 incredibly well-groomed and well-dressed men. Well, the joke was on us as every single one of those men were gay. But they were very charming dining companions. So, we started our meal with cocktails, and I ordered an Apple Sweet Martini. It tasted just like apple juice (with a little vodka kick). All the food was great, but the most important discovery was the "All Chocolate'' dessert. It was a deconstructed chocolat fondant, and I tell you right now, if all I ever ate again was the All Chocolate dessert washed down with an Apple Sweet Martini, I would be a happy happy woman! Three hours later, a typical French dinner, we paid our not-so-cheap, but well worth it bill, and headed out on the town...
