It's been a busy weekend!!
Friday night, the girls and I ventured to the Latin Quarter off the St Michel metro - great area!! We went to an interesting bar where the all-male wait staff wears sparkly underwear (and little else), throws confetti at you, and steals your bras, which they then hang from the ceiling or wear around their heads. I think it may be the number 1 location in all of France for bachelorette parties. I saw quite a few Parisian girls...gone wild. It was a little too much for us innocent American girls so we headed over to a slightly more tame piano bar. We met the nicest bartenders who offered us some free vin -who can turn that down?!
On Saturday, we went to a HUGE flea market in the North of Paris. I got some great goodies and we were able to see a more ghetto side of grand ole Paris. After we satisfied our shopping needs for the day, I went home to set up for my "goodbye to my first apartment in Paris" party. The guest list included Ben, David and Nicolas (Ben's friend), Suzanne, Brit, Stephanie, Anne-Sophie (the sweet Parisian girl I met for coffee on Friday) and her friend Mathilde, and Matt, this random guy from San Francisco we met on the street on the way home Friday night (nice...but slightly creepy). The bottles of vin were plentiful and the boys put out a nice spread of French snack foods (peanut-flavored Cheeto-like snacks...??). For my first party in Paris, it was a big success and a lot of fun!!
Today, very tired, the girls and I patronized an establishment we passed near St Michel on Friday night: The Happy Days Diner. Of course we cannot pass up anything with an American title, so we decided to give it a go for brunch. Not bad! In fact we enjoyed the diner so much we sat there and talked for 2 hours after our meal. After all that chatting, we decided we were hungry again, so we headed directly to another restaurant for some sushi. And, no we're not ashamed that we went to two restaurants in a row... C'est Paris!
Then, we returned to Rue St Denis, packed up my room, said goodbye to mon colocataire (roommate), and headed to my new apartment. So this is my first blog from my new place...love the apartment but not quite sure about the area... I miss the prostitutes!!
