First day on a new job...

So I woke up this morning, and it was snowing!! Really snowing...in Paris!!! It was gorgeous. Despite the weather, I managed to make it to work with no problems. Taking the metro here is so easy....it reminds me of San Francisco transportation but with better dressed people....who speak French.

Work was a whirlwind - je suis tres fatigue! Within 30 minutes of arriving, they had me taking notes at an international conference on carbon capture and storage. I took notes ALL day and they were projected in real time on five screens for all the conference attendees. It was slightly stressful...but things got way better when they fed me yummy lunch with wine...and yummy after conference hor d'oevres with wine. I think I'm going to like this job. And everyone seems really nice. I'll be working in a room with a super nice British woman and an Italian guy. Maybe I'll learn French, Italian, and how to speak with a British accent!

The best part is that my office is directly in front of the Eiffel Tower! Ahhh c'est la vie!

I'm definitely going to bed early tonight since I slept very little last night (jet lag...). Speaking of last night...my roommate Ben and his friends took me on a walk through Paris. We went to Pigale (where Mouline Rouge is), then to a cafe in Montmartre for some chocolat chaud (hot chocolate), then to Montmartre to look over the city. It was gorgeous - like everything here! And then we ate some Parisian sushi/meat skewers. The sushi wasn't great...but the meat was amazing. Ben's friends were really nice. I couldn't understand most of the conversation, but it was helpful pour apprendre les francais.

I've been in Paris for 3 days now, and I still don't think it's hit me...
