Bad Choices

Apparently my American eating habits have followed me to Paris. After work, my co-worker Mirko took me to a boulangerie which he said had the best bread in the neighborhood. He was right. I got a huge baguette that came out all warm and soft and amazing. So we were walking down the street, eating our baguettes. And then I came home...got out some cheese and ate more of the baguette. And then I put the rest away...astonished at myself for eating half a baguette. And then...5 minutes later...I ate the rest. I feel ashamed. And kind of sick...

I would like to wallow in my overindulgent misery, but I am going out at 9 pm to meet these two American girls I met through Craig's List to find an apartment. We were all trying to find an apartment together, but failed because Paris is mostly studios (there's something about French laws that make it difficult for people to split rent...). Point is...we decided that four American girls (one is coming next week) living in Paris for a couple months just have to meet each other!

I'm getting the feeling that happy hour isnt as popular in France as in America. They do have it, but people seem to meet up later in the night. Ben invited me to go out to a club tonight (Thursday). But he said he's not going until midnight. Either I'm an old woman or the French live on a completely different timetable.

OH! And guess what I had to buy to bring into work tomorrow? A bottle of booze and a snack for our after work party. That's right...a bottle of booze. Our work kitchen has leftover bottles of booze from other parties. AND...there's not one, but two, after work parties. I think work is my favorite part of Paris so far. Although I just got a stack of paperwork today bigger than my baguette...
