Visiter #3

Stephanie arrived in Paris last Thursday morning. After a quick hello and exchange of keys, I put her to bed and left for work. As Friday was a work holiday, I had to finalize all the last minutes details of the big workshop/conference I was putting together. Fortunately, I was able to complete everything and leave work at a decent time so I could take Stephanie out on the town. Much needed since she was too scared to leave my apartment without me (that's right Stephanie Gillett, I'm calling you out).

We had plans to meet Brittany and her two friends who were also visiting for dinner at Le Refuge des Fondues. Otherwise known as: the place that serves wine in baby bottles. Once again, Le Refuge did not disappoint. From it's French waiters with their ''playful'' French humor, to the wine-soaked fondue, to the baby bottles, it was exactly as I remembered, and a great indoctrination to Paris for Stephanie. Since I didn't have work on Friday, the five of us decided to make it a late night. First, we stopped for a few bottles of champagne to accompany us on our journey to Moulin Rouge, which, as a fan of the movie, was on Stephanie's top 3 list of things to see in Paris. We're still not quite sure if it's legal to drink a wine bottle on the street, but how can the French condemn that which they find a cultural necessity? The night would not have been complete without a stop in St. Michel and a late-night crepe, so we ventured off to the Latin Quartier.

We had big plans for the following day, but they were slightly hindered by the fact that we awoke at noon. We had hoped to go up in the Eiffel Tower with Brit and her friends, but by the time we got there, the line was out of control. If we weren't scheduled to fly to Dublin that night, we might have stuck it out, but we decided it was better to be safe then sorry.

So we headed back to my apartment to pack our tote bags - thanks Ryan Air for all the baggage space - and hopped on the metro to the bus to the Beauvais airport and finally on our plane to Dublin. This little Beauvais airport jaunt is getting a little old...
