Les Hommes Francais

Last week, thanks to American girls, I learned a bit more about French men. As most of you know or have probably inferred from my blogging, I haven't been very (or at all) impressed by the men here in Paris. Looks, mannerisms, personality - I've found it all subpar.

However, I think perhaps my initial judgments were a little too harsh. Despite all their unappealing qualities (greasy hair, fussiness, aloofness, general stick up the butt attitude...), according to one of my American coworkers who married a French men, these hommes francais have one quality which boosts them head and shoulders above American men - they understand women and relationships.

What does that even mean you might be asking? Well, apparently, French men are more tolerant of a women's weaknesses (a monthly mood swing, a higher tendency toward tears, an occasional jealous rage...). While American men are often put off or confused by these female tendencies, French men understand that a women cannot always be perfect. Just as they understand a relationship cannot always be perfect, and it's important to weather the downtimes. Maybe it's because French men aren't blinded by machismo and the constant urge to ''repair''....?

My coworker (affirmed by another woman dating a French men) was positive if I were to meet a French man in the next week, I would marry him and never leave Paris. Although I'm thankful for the insight, I don't think I'll become ''Mrs. Jean-Luc Pierre De Beauvais" anytime soon.
