First, my computer died. Now, it's my camera. At some point during my night in Brussels the lenses became stuck (no I did not drop the camera). Someone was able to fix it that night, but a few days later, the lenses became stuck encore. This time there was no fixing it...at least not without the assistance of a professional.
So off I went to Boulevard Beaumarchais - the rue de la camera.
Side Bar: One thing I really enjoy about Paris is that a lot of the services are clustered. Everyone knows that Blvd Beaumarchais is where you go for your camera needs. And Rue Mongallet is the street you go to buy/fix a computer. In a strange way, it's really comforting.
Anyways, I went to one of the camera stores on Beaumarchais, and after trois semaines and 98 euros, I will hopefully have my camera back good as new. Three weeks without being able to capture my Parisian memories - I don't know how I will survive! Hence, my already well-established dislike of technology has just increased threefold.
However, there is a silver lining to this story. If my camera had not decided to break, I would not have walked home from Beaumarchais, and I would not have discovered the Grande Marche de L'Art Contemporain. It was a huge market of art venders along both sides of the Seine River displaying tent after tent of some of the most interesting contemporary art I've ever seen. It's only open for a week - one of those blink and you miss it charms of Paris. Unfortunately, all the art was extremely cher - just a few hundred/thousand dollars above my budget!
After the art market, I was feeling that Paris ''lovin' feeling.'' I felt it even more after passing a bunch of older Parisian men playing bocci ball (or whatever that game is called). I swear I have only seen that in the movies!
